SBJ Salutes Character Ed

In September 2007, Springfield Business Journal Editor Eric Olson kicked off a quest to find local employees with positive character, using the Character Ed “Word of the Month” as a starting point.  He challenged readers to recognize their staff members or co-workers in their office, plant/warehouse, or shop that demonstrate that month’s character trait.  He asked that readers send him a letter stating why and how this person exemplifies the trait at work and promised to run reader responses in upcoming Opinion Pages.  As Olson pointed out, “There is no award ceremony, no plaque given – just good, solid word being spread about the workers who are doing right even in tough, stressful situations.  That way, I hope, it becomes contagious.  Let’s do our part as media and business representatives.”

To read about each month's selected employees, check your issue of the Springfield Business Journal or log onto sbj.net.

If you know of an employee who fits the description for the monthly character trait, please send an email to SBJ Editor Eric Olson at eoloson(at)sbj.net with your name and company, name of person who exemplifies the "Word of the Month" at work, their job title, how you know them, and a brief description of how this person exemplifies the "Word of the Month".
